On the Opal range, this scramble is steep with mild to moderate exposure but will reward you with beautiful summit and rolling valley views. You'll want to wear a helmet if there's anyone else on the trail; falling rock from others is a concern. Poles and gloves are necessary, in my opinion, due to the loose scree and slab terrain you'll find after the tree line. Beyond this point, the route becomes less defined, with various paths merging up to the summit. There was still snow in early June.
